Pajama Day


Pajama Day - Tuesday, December 23rd

Students may wear appropriate pajamas to school on Tuesday.  Slippers are allowed, but please wear regular shoes to school.  No stuffed animals please!!!

Marble Jar Reward

Miss Pavlicek brought our classroom pet, GusGus, the hamster. The students filled their Marble Jar and voted on a pet as their prize. This week we have a hamster visiting us and next week it will be gerbils. It is so exciting. Congratulations on a job well done third graders!

Turkey Trot

Making Flashlights with Mr. Musselman

The kids had a great time learning about the engineering behind a flashlight. This will roll nicely into our upcoming unit on Light in Science.

Plimoth Plantation

What a great day at Plimoth Plantation. The kids had a blast and filled their Research Journals with lots of facts. They were able to visit the Wampanoag Site, the Pilgrim Village, and the Mayflower.

Static Electricity

Students tested materials to see what created Static Electricity. They discovered that a static charge is created when two non conductors are rubbed together.

          *Raz-Kids log ins went home today - please try to log your child on.  If you have trouble                     please let me know.

          *Book Orders - due Friday October 17th

          *Reflex Math - please have your children log on at least 3-4 times per week.

Ipad Time



Yeah....Third Graders were assigned their individual Ipads today.  They will get to use their Ipads for all areas of the curriculum throughout the school year.  Mrs. Weldon came into class to discuss the appropriate use of Ipads and the children each signed an agreement to follow those rules.

First Day

Welcome Back!  I was so happy to see all my new students today.  We had a great first day!  Students came home today with their backpack folders.  There are many important notices that need to be filled out as soon as possible.  Please check back often, as new things are always posted to it.  If you have any questions or need to contact me, don't hesitate.  I look forward to a wonderful year together!!!

Summer Reading Assignment

Third Grade Summer Reading

1. Required Reading
          Each student entering third grade is required to read one of the following books and complete a poster (poster directions are listed below).
          1. How to Be Cool in the Third Grade  By: Betsy Duffy

          2. I Was a Third Grade Spy  By: Mary Jane Auch

          3. Flat Stanley By: Jeff Brown

          4. Ramona Quimby, Age 8 By: Beverly Cleary

          5. Good Grief, Third Grade By: Colleen McKenna

          6. Horrible Harry Moves Up to Third Grade By: Suzy Kline

          7. The Clue of the Left-Handed Envelope By: George E. Stanley

          8. The Haunting of Grade Three By: Grace Maccarone

2. Read More
          Students should also have opportunities to choose what they want to read as well.  Each student should complete the Summer Reading Recording Form.

The poster and reading form should be completed and returned to your child's teacher by Friday, September 6th.





Poster Project
  • Choose and read 1 book from the required reading list.
  • Make a poster (approximately 8 1/2 X 11 - the size of a regular piece of paper).  Include in the poster the following:
                                            *Title & Author of Book
                                            *Illustration of your favorite part of the
                                              book
                                            *A few sentences telling us what is 
                                              happening in your illustration
                                            *Your name clearly written on the back
  • Please write clearly and neatly and remember to add details to your illustrations.  Posters will be placed on display for the class.

The Map Lady
